Our story

Built by dancers who were told they started too late.

Floor Nine began as a Sunday practice in a borrowed parking garage, nine friends and one speaker.

Founder Nia Okoro spent ten years dancing for tours and kept hearing friends say "I would love to dance, but I am not a dancer." So she built a studio for exactly those people.

Today: two sprung-floor rooms in an old printing house, honest teachers and zero judgement at the back of the room.

The crew

Teachers who still battle.

Fourteen active dancers, choreographers and competitors. Meet four of them.

I am 41 and had never taken a dance class. Eight months after my first Hip Hop Foundations I performed in the showcase. This place changed how I feel in my own body.

My twins went from hiding behind my legs to freestyling at the June showcase. Miss Rosa is pure magic with shy kids.
